Effort vs. Consistency

Is it better to work hard or simply make small changes every day. Lately I have been pondering this and trying to come up with a definitive answer. I made a list of a few things I have been pondering making changes in my life and thinking about what it would take to accomplish them. My biggest but not only thing on my list is losing the 10 lbs I put on from going to a desk job over the last year. I had tried insanity and believe me the name is fitting because you have to be off your rocker to finish something that difficult. In short each time I quit after only a few days. I just didn’t think the juice was worth that squeeze. Also, my schedule was so busy I hated the idea of changing my life around to find the hour a day it takes and the half hour it would take to recover. So after reading something about making change through consistent actions I decided to apply it to every aspect of my life. This included the 10 lbs I have been ignoring for the last month or so.

To begin, I thought about my current schedule and what I do on a regular basis. I wrote it out and pondered what activities I already do and like that I can make more beneficial to help lose the weight. For example, I usually take the dog for a walk around the block every day; I like doing this and it has been really nice out. So, now I have doubled the walking distance each day ( no more than a mile) and I have decided I hate cardio and was not going to be on a treadmill everyday. So I decided that I would try my hardest to do other adult activities at night… Every Night… Believe me Ryan has been pretty happy and It burns more than double the calories anyway. This is the extent of my working out every day with absolutely zero additional changes. I still eat the way I would like and keep my schedule the same. With the addition to these couple of activities I plan to lost the weight I have gained. I am down 3 lbs from the start of my routine and plan to continue this action indefinitely.

It is in my opinion that consistency in life is better than all out isolated effort. although effort gets you results faster. you will lose them equally as quick because keeping up with something that requires such commitment is typically difficult for most individuals but making small changes and keeping them up every day will get you slow results that endure. I recommend apply this to everything your business if you want to expand and grow, your children if they are not behaving the way you would like, your body, your relationship and overtime watch the small investments pay off with the happiness you are looking for.

Things You can Learn about Buisness or your Career from a 4 year old

Image

Just the other night I was babysitting my little niece. Over the course of the evening she was talking about all of the things she wanted to do. She would tell me how she is going to be a princess and her and her “horse are going to live in a big castle. Now obviously most of us do not grow up to become royalty (unless were Kate Middleton) but over our childhoods we learn skills and are told each and every day to be realistic. Children Like my niece are fearless and free to dream at the age of 4. If we were encouraged to dream our entire lives imagine who we would become. I myself would not have gotten a practical degree in which i did not really want and waste many years of my life sitting behind a desk not enjoying one bit of my life.

First of all Begin to dream again each and every day. visualize and write down what your life would be like in your ideal world. Remember back when you were a kid and why if you were like me you wanted to be a Pirate or a Firefighter. Begin to dream of a whole new wold even if it is something that reality could never sustain. This will help to increase your capacity for thinking outside the box and give you that same enjoyment a child would have when they are playing make believe.

Next, start to compile a list of things you really like to do and do them more often. Life is about having fun and enjoying the people and culture we have all around us.  There is an old saying that if you love what you do for work then you never worked a day in your life. This is very true because you would have choose to do these things anyway. for example, the love of my life loves to hunt and fish ( what men don’t!) He is going to be using this love to create his own business so he can spend every day doing just that. Or how about my friend Christina who loves children she decided to become a social worker and create a place that’s helps children in need gain better resources. There are many ways we can be happier with what we do ; but, we need to know what we love first.

Last, I challenge all people to go out and learn what it means to be truly fearless and brave. worrying about what might happen leads us to that exact sequence of events and yet if we simply go for it we almost always arrive at our destination safely. If a better life is what you seek be like my niece was with her first horse back riding lesson. If a 4 year old girl can walk right up to an animal 20 times her size pet him and without even a flinch jump on his back because she wants to be a princess with a  horse I am sure you can start enjoying your life and taking the steps to making your self happy!

Are We Tested?

Image

We are all familiar with what is the most well known story of God testing mankind. In this story God asks Abraham to make a sacrifice of his son in Gods name. Abraham at that point took his son to the the top of the mountain and prepared to sacrifice him. That is when God stopped him right before it happened. Although, today we don’t make sacrifices in Gods name are we tested like Abraham was. I Believe we are and I believe before God answers our prayers we need to prove our love for him the same way Abraham was.

When we pray for something using The Law of Attraction and/ or God / The source of everything we need to prove ourselves to god before our prayers our answered. This is done through trust and love that we will gain the answers from god and that we cant accomplish our goal or need without the source. For example, I personally was asked to walk away from someone before being brought to my soul mate. I had to sacrifice the entire life I was accustomed to and move in a foreign direction and trust in the destination. I personally have been tested each time my life was about to change for the better or a prayer would be directly answered.

When trying to change your life you need to understand that we need to trust in the destination and understand that their is sometimes a price that needs to be paid for the greater good. Fear of giving up what is asked of you and moving in a different direction holds you back. Next, time you feel stressed or something randomly pops in to you life pay attention to the solutions and choices placed ahead of you and find the divine guidance and move ahead with complete trust and joy!

Retrain your Brain My favorite subliminal Messages Free!

I have often spoken about the importance of self talk and subliminal messages. If you want to accomplish anything you first need to believe in what you are doing. If we do not believe in our ability to accomplish what we set out to do then it wont happen. The same is true if we do believe! Our world is a manifestation of what we believe. Therefore, making sure we are programing our minds for success is so important. I wanted to provide a link to the video I like a lot for subliminal messages that are free on you tube!

Indespensable Leadership Qualities

ImageWhen looking at great leaders and People who are able to guide others in a positive and fulfilling direction there are a few crucial qualities someone must develop with in themselves. These qualities are some of the qualities that people find motivating in a leader and will help you gain respect and love from your team!

1. Integrity and Honesty– I place this quality first on the list because a person without integrity will always have there decisions questioned by the people who value honesty and integrity in their own lives. If you are doing things that hurt others or make the world around people a worse place for your own gain then you can never be a true leader. For example, a drug dealer who commands respect through power, and control never leads. Have you ever wondered why violence runs so deep within these people. It is because they can not gain respect from the people around them without forcing it on them!

2. Commitment to your cause– No one who is successful at building a team of people or gaining the respect of their peers has ever quit on their cause or purpose. They are so deeply involved that when something does not work the way they wanted they simply adjust the course of their sale and keep sailing towards their goal. This commitment in itself is assuring to those who are following you and shows strength in your belief in yourself and ability to accomplish what is needed.

3. Openness- The quality of openness is understood as a personality trait we express. I recently watched on the Dr. Phil show a way to test just how open you are to new ideas and how accepting you are of others and what they think. Its really simple, How do you feel about PDA! As ridiculous as it seems open people are usually accepting of PDA and even seem to find it nice. This is because they do not feel like they need to control the actions of others. Good leaders are open people who will accept criticism and look in to the ideas of the people they lead. They collaborate more and control less!

4. Consistency- Good leaders realize that small actions add up to big things! They consistently act each day to hit the goals. This can be as simple as making a couple phone calls but they realize every action matters no matter how small! Also, they are consistent with the decisions they make and how they handle the people around them. It is much better to have a systematic approach!

5. They think Big and Go the Extra Mile–  Good leaders can see the whole picture and only focus on the end result. This motivates true leaders to go the extra mile and understand that no matter what happens they will get what needs to be done done. One of my favorite quotes is actually something Yoda says to Luke in Star Wars He says NO TRY NOT, DO OR DO NOT, THERE IS NO TRY! This is how a leader acts towards there goal because no matter what obstacle is set in front of their goal the goal itself is so big that they can always see it and keep moving towards it!

6. They Know the people they lead Personally and Professionally– They care about the people who are around them and although having a professional relationship is important they genuinely care about the well being of the people who they lead more than the job that needs to be done. This is why true leaders develop a personal relationship with the people they lead!

Create a Habit of Personal Development

Image

When it comes to success we need to consistently participate in self development that will aid us in reaching our goals . Creating positive habits of successful people can be one of the more difficult but more beneficial changes a person can make early on with the goal setting and Leadership process. For anyone who wants to find success whether it be running your own business, going back to school to better yourself, or taking on a trade or art the best first step to take is to change ingrained negative habits in to positive ones. Below you will find 4 ways to start to change your Habits and begin to to work towards your goals.

1. Positive Thought– Change the way you talk to yourself and about yourself. Nothing is stronger than the power of belief. The more you say you can do something or are doing something the more motivated you will become. The same is true if you feel like a task is difficult or cant be done; Either way you are RIGHT!

2. Make the most of your time– Ask yourself in each task Am I making the most of my time? the majority of people spend time online surfing the web, watching TV, shopping or doing other various meaningless tasks that do not help you reach your goals. Are you just doing meaningless tasks and what is most important. I recommend creating daily objectives to be hit that will help you make the small steps to getting the goals you set accomplished.

3. Don’t get frustrated if you do not see immediate results– many of us have been trained to want instant gratification and when we do not see reinforcement for each objective we tend have the need psychologically to please ourselves and this often leads to quitting right before things start to pay off! I recommend setting up a reward program for yourself to help motivate yourself to continue working hard through the small daily objectives you have set up.

4. self study- learn about yourself and what you believe. This will involve looking inwards and overhauling the psychological information ingrained in your subconscious mind. For example, how well do you believe you perform various tasks, is your self esteem high or low and once you see your strengths and weaknesses begin to reprogram your mind to focus on success and positive attributes. I highly recommend using subliminal messages and Positive self talk

The importance of Goal setting and writing Objectives

Image

Goal setting is something that is crucial in achieving anything you want in your life. The act of setting a goal when done properly does a couple crucial things that will lead you to organize your projects even if you do not know how to achieve a goal in the end. The reason goal setting is important is because it will allow you to come up with small objectives that when added up as a whole leads you to the final destination. Think of the goal as the Destination and the Objective as each step towards your journey.

How to set a Good Goal-

First in order for a goal to be good it needs to have a time frame this will give you perspective and motivation on what you need to achieve and allows you to measure your goal. For example, I am finishing up my Ebook now i am writing now and my original goal was as stated.

I will finish my e book by the end of July this year.

The other important aspect of a goal is it should be broad and cover all aspects this is the big picture you want to achieve. This is the end result instead of the means to get there. I am sure you have all heard the saying you don’t need to see the whole staircase just take the first step. The goal is always your final destination.

How to create good objectives-

The objectives are the small actions you need to take every day that will move you towards your goal. I personally live by “The Rule of 5” therefore i take 5 steps i think are important every day towards achieving my goal. Objectives are small actions that are measurable and should be done quickly and regularly. for example, one of my objectives today is

Tonight, I will research at least, 5 spiritually successful people and find at least 3 commonalities in their processes and how they live their life for my e book.

Goals and objectives are an important step to creation process and practiced amongst all successful individuals. I guarantee if you begin to write out what you are working towards and apply writing objectives daily towards your goal these small steps will add up to an amazing end result you will be proud of.

What is Success

Image

I am constantly studying other peoples methods and theories of how people define and view success. There are some that will tell you loving what you do is success, and others who will tell you that helping someone is success to them, and there are always those who view having lots of material possessions and money brings them success. This topic has been a debate among many since the dawn of time and most people will accept the view that it can be different to all people; however, I refuse to accept this. I believe true success comes when you have these three working in synchronicity in your life. when we combine money, happiness, and compassion for others this brings us true joy in what we do. The hard part for most is taking the step to achieving your goal or dream. Most people will shut themselves down and never take the first step. I recently was reading about success and the mind set others adopted in their early stages to push them along and I wanted to share a couple with you.

1. Blind faith– All successful people took the first step blindly, not knowing how they would get there but simply making small actions towards the goal each and every day. This is something I do and everyone who is working to achieve a lofty feat will explain. I go by the “rule of 5”- each day I do 5 things to achieve my goal and simply do this each and every day. Living in the moment rather than focusing on the past or the future. ACT instead of think because our thoughts typically get in the way!

2. Don’t believe in failureLet go of our Perceived Risk– This is something I am going to coin myself. Many experts tell you not to fear failure (which the majority of us are afraid of) They say failure makes you stronger and better. I do not think there is a such thing. Every time we create something it is an amazing experience and continuing to move towards our goals may require many different shifts and changes. These shifts and changes are what brings in the people we need, the experiences we need, and is what makes life interesting and amazing. This is the flow of life. giving up on our idea of failure and perceived risk will make action more fun and easier.

Bravery or Optimistic Denial

Fear comes in a lot of different forms and according to Tim Ferris most people look at this as optimistic denial. Think to yourself do you really think your situation can improve or are you simply in optimistic denial. Optimistic denial is one step below fear. People who continually pretend things will get better but are never brave enough to try are actually more fearful than the people who can go out of their way to actually picture failure. Now, what you really need is to take the step from Fear up to simply just moving towards what you want without any fear. That is true bravery and making a jump towards actions will only bring greater joy.

Now, Figure out which stage you are in and if you are ready to jump towards your goals great! yet, most people are fearful and need to recognize what they fear and just do it because that fear is typically the thing we actually need to do the most! Go face your fear and each and every day continue to fear and move in the right direction. Lastly if you are not even ready to recognize what you are scared of its time to write down those worries and fear. Write down why you are scared make this your worst case scenario. Then, put yourself in those shoes. Get yourself in to the fear stage so you can begin to face them and ready yourself for the jump towards the goal!
